HubLensPrivacy Policy

// privacy policy

Last updated: April 19, 2026

// overview

HubLens ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website hublens.dev. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our site.

HubLens is a static site that aggregates publicly available open-source project data. We do not require user registration, and we do not collect personal information directly.

// information we collect

We do not collect personal data directly. HubLens does not have user accounts, login systems, forms (other than the contact email listed on our About page), or databases that store visitor information.

However, third-party services embedded on our site may collect certain data automatically, as described below.

// local storage

HubLens uses your browser's localStorage to save preferences locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to our servers. Specifically:

  • Pinned projects — IDs of projects you pin for comparison (key: hublens:pins).
  • Last visit timestamp — used to highlight new or rising projects since your last visit (key: hublens:lastVisit).
  • UI preferences — such as the comparison tray collapse state.

You can clear this data at any time via your browser's developer tools or settings.

// public api

HubLens provides a free Public REST API. When you use the API, we may temporarily store your IP address for rate limiting purposes (60 requests per hour). This data is stored in Cloudflare KV with automatic expiration (1 hour) and is not used for any other purpose.

No authentication or personal information is required to use the API.

// cookies & third-party advertising

HubLens uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet.

Specifically:

  • Google and other third-party ad vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your past visits to this site and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing history.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.
  • You may also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.

// third-party services

In addition to Google AdSense, our site may use the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — we use this tool to understand site traffic and usage patterns. We have enabled data sharing with Google products and services to help improve the Google ecosystem. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as your browser type, IP address, and how you interact with our website. For more information on how Google uses this data, please visit How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
  • Cloudflare Pages — for website hosting and content delivery. Cloudflare may collect basic analytics data (e.g., page views, country-level location). See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

// data from public sources

HubLens displays information about open-source repositories collected from publicly accessible sources (GitHub API, Hacker News). This data includes repository names, descriptions, star counts, and other publicly available metadata.

AI-generated summaries are derived from publicly available README files and do not contain personal data.

// children's privacy

HubLens is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

// changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
